Stuhrling Original remains committed to its mission of preserving the high standards set in Switzerland manufacturing all of their fine timepieces in their Swiss-owned factory! Each and every model conveys an inimitable story with extraordinary style. You'll find heirloom selections for both men and women that even the most astute watch collector will cherish and admire.

In the workshops of Stuhrling Original, the unit specializing in mechanical movements, component selection, assembly, lubrication, adjustment and testing creates horological wonders entirely under vigilant attention of Swiss ownership and supervision. It is these workshops that produce the mechanical engines that are famous for meeting the highest existing criteria in there category. Starting with the main plate, the assembly process is performed in several consecutive stages up until anchoring the balance spring, which sets the watch into motion. Assembling a Stuhrling Original mechanical automatic movement comprises no less than 30 checkpoints, spread throughout the assembly process. Adjusting the angle of lift of the pallets, centering the balance-spring, poising the balance are just a few examples of these checkpoints; of which all are designed to enhance the performance of each movement. The movement must meet no less than seven criteria, including a mean variation in rate which is the highest standard in the industry in its class.

Stuhrling Original cases are distinguished by their technical complexity, their high-end aesthetic appeal and the quality of their finish.

The watch cases are made from antimagnetic 316L surgical grade stainless steel, an extremely sophisticated alloy designed to stand up to intensive use. The rough parts, known as "middlecases" are blanked from a metal bar using a high-performance press. They then undergo eight successive stamping operations of a strength increasing gradually from 20 to 85 tons. Before each swaging operation, the middlecase is refired at a temperature of 1100 degrees Celsius, so as to temporarily reduce the hardness to a total stamping pressure of more than 400 tons. Finishing the cases then calls for fifteen polishing operations, all performed by hand alternating with nine baths guaranteeing immaculate cleanliness. Other components of the cases, such as rotating bezels or rider tabs also require a meticulous finish. The components of the cases are finally assembled by hand and rigorously tested.

Each Stuhrling Original dial has been designed to enable optimal read-off at a glance, while adding an element of artistic design. Stuhrling Original's dials are blanked from a brass plate and two cylindrical feet are soldered below to ensure security

with the movement. Polishing operations, creating special effects through the use of vintage hydraulic German machines, and electroplating are just some of the more than forty operations required to make most StuhrlingOriginal dials. The transparent protective coating is applied in an immaculately clean environment before the various inscriptions are transfer printed using a gelatin pad which takes an impression from an inked block. On many of the dials the hour markers are either individually applied by hand or embossed into the dial and then topped with a special dye. The application of Super Luminova is performed by artisans with a nozzle pen connected to a high-pressure pipe which calls for intense concentration. Once finished, each dial undergoes careful aesthetic scrutiny under extreme magnification, as well as technical testing, to ensure it complies with all predefined dimensions and specifications.

Unique and stylish

The watch is an automatic watch with a clear rear view from the back. It is beautifully crafted. The person who had said the 6 o'clock is off by 3 degrees is actually wrong. If you take a ruler or straight edge you will see it is aligned properly.

I've just got my watch today and already gotten compliments on its unique look. For an automatic watch it is actually quite thick (over 1 cm). I am not a fan of it's roundish blocky sort of look from the side, but for the quality and performance, it is actually not bad. The watch surprisingly doesn't weigh anymore than your regular watch given it's size and dimension. I've had automatic watches of the similar dimension weighing a lot more.

It is definitely a watch you can wear either casual formal, or for formal occasions. The leather band lends it a more informal look than a comparable purely metallic watch.

Overall I am pleased with this watch. With the amazon price reduction to below $300 it is definitely a steal.

Beautiful watch

I love the blue accents and dual time. Watch is very unique. Stuhrling is a great company with great customer service bar none. Quality is super. Remember this is an automatic and if you take it off and leave sit for a day or so it will stop and need to be reset and you will need to rewind it to restart the movement. You should wind it abt 30 to 40x when watch is being first set or restarted. Go to [...] if you have other questions to ask.

My favorite watch!

Got this recently as an early birthday gift and it is breathtaking! The combination of the polished gunmetal finish and the platinum mother of pearl dial is what really sets this apart and it is another one that the online pictures really don't do it justice. I have other Invictas, but this is my first Excursion and it really is my favorite time piece. It is a heavy, large watch, although not as big as the Russian Diver or Corduba. It looks great on my wrist (8"), and I don't really notice the weight/size after it's on for awhile.

Good look bad funtionality

I went crazy when I saw this watch online, I’m active duty and any thing black smacks me in the face and makes me want to buy it, so I just had to have this watch. I loved it at first its all matt black pretty big face nice strap pretty spec ops looking. After a few weeks when I really started to get down to using it, I realized it was not as good. The dial light is orange and it does not really light up the entire face as well in the dark it kind of casts a shadown over the dial which sucks when you’re training at 0230 in the woods with nothing around.

The digital layout is the worst its in the negative format which is black all around and the numbers are light grey. Its not flushed with the watch dial so whe to illuminate the dial light you just cannot read the digital time it’s always black. When doing PT in the mornings in the dark you need to see the seconds display and its too black to see any thing, if the hands happen to be over the digital display it makes it ever worse. Now being military I have some unusual circumstances so it does not really work out for me, BUT I adapt and over come! Over all it still looks good its pretty light and is a nice big watch which I like, time format can be set to 24hr too, it’s just the stop watch function and the light on this watch sucks, I’m going to get the one in red and black it does not have the black digital display and is easier to read in the dark. I hope this helps my peps!!!

I’m in the US Army..

.. And not only does it blend perfectly with my ACU’s(Uniform) , but off duty in civilian clothing i can wear it where ever. Stylish yet simple. Hi-Tech with a futuristic, hard ass.. bad boy look and feel to it depending on your point of view. Love it. A MUST BUY! Yeah the LED doesn’t illuminate the digital time, but what other watch illuminates when its pointed at your face at night? What other watch this reliable, shockproof, magneticproof, shockwave proof, water proof, has a speedometer! plus the analog hands move automatically(thought that was cool). But the manual takes some time to figure out. a small price to pay for this Hi-Tech watch. A must if you are in the Military.

-got it as a early xmas gift from a friend back in the states. love it.

Best G-Shock I have ever owned

This is my 3rd G-Shock in 20 years. My first lasted 5 years then was destroyed when I had the battery replaced & it did not stay waterproof, my bad for not verifying before I took it in salt water. The second one was ripped off my arm after I had it for 10 years when the water ski rope grabbed it when I wiped out, probably still going at the bottom of the lake, that was about 5 years ago. This one looks great & has excellent functions. I really like the complements I get when wearing it. It fits great, is comfortable to wear & is very light. Since the band seems to always be the weak link on G-Shocks, I ordered 2 replacement bands from Casio so I am ready for this watch to last for many, many years. As others have stated, it is a bit hard to read the digital part in lower light, but I don’t find that a problem as the time is displayed on the hands & that is the primary reason you wear a watch! I have had it for 3 months now & it has stayed accurate to 10 seconds so far, I am a pleased owner of this watch.

The Bulova Story

In 1875, a young Czech immigrant named Joseph Bulova set up shop in New York City, and a legendary American watch brand was born.
